Cookie Policy
How TruckersBS uses browser storage, cookies and similar technologies.
Effective: December 1, 2026
1. About this Policy
1.1 Who we are. This Cookie Policy explains how Truckers Base Social Inc. ("TruckersBS", "we", "us" or "our"), the operator of https://truckersbs.com/ and its installable version (the "Platform"), uses browser storage, cookies and similar technologies. Truckers Base Social Inc. forms part of the LTL VAN Media group.
1.2 Related documents. This Policy forms part of our Privacy Policy (https://truckersbs.com/legal/privacy-policy) and should be read with our User Terms (https://truckersbs.com/legal/user-terms).
1.3 Address. 9505 Franklin Avenue, Unit 202, Fort McMurray, Alberta T9H 3Z7, Canada. Questions: [contact email — to be confirmed].
2. What these technologies are
2.1 Cookies. Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. "First-party" cookies are set by the website you are visiting. "Third-party" cookies are set by another organization whose service is used on that website.
2.2 Local storage and service workers. Local storage is space in your browser where a website can keep information, such as a setting, until it is deleted. A service worker is a small script that lets a website, or an app installed from it, keep copies of its files on your device so that pages load faster and an offline page can be shown.
2.3 In this Policy. This Policy refers to all of these as "storage technologies" unless we say otherwise.
3. What we use
3.1 No cookies of our own. We do not set any first-party cookies.
3.2 Local storage for sign-in. When you sign in, your browser stores tokens that keep you signed in and protect your account, together with short-lived entries used during sign-in. These are needed to provide the account you ask for.
3.3 Settings you choose. Your browser stores the country you select in the "All Countries" selector, so that the Platform shows content for that country, and your choice not to be shown the prompt to install the Platform as an app. We do not detect your country. It is stored only because you chose it.
3.4 Map lookups. When you view a wiki page with a map, your browser keeps a copy of the place-name lookup so that the map does not need to be looked up again.
3.5 Offline files. Our service worker keeps copies of the Platform's static files and an offline page on your device. It holds no personal information.
3.6 No analytics or advertising at present. We do not currently use analytics, advertising, marketing, session recording or social media tracking tools. Google Analytics is planned for future use on the Platform but is not installed, and we have not chosen any advertising network. We will not activate either without first updating this Policy and Schedule 1 and obtaining your consent where the law requires it.
3.7 Third parties. Other organizations set their own cookies on your device only in the following situations: (a) when you watch a video on TruckersBS TV, YouTube (Google) sets cookies and receives your IP address and browser information; (b) when you use Sign in with Google, Google sets cookies during sign-in; and (c) if we switch on Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a report made without signing in comes from a person, Cloudflare processes signals from your browser for that purpose. Those organizations use the information under their own policies.
3.8 Maps without cookies. Maps on wiki pages are drawn from OpenStreetMap map tiles and place names are looked up through the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service. Those services receive your IP address and the place names searched, but we do not ask them to set cookies.
3.9 Shop links. If you click a Shop link that takes you to a retailer or an affiliate partner, such as Amazon once we publish links under the Amazon Associates programme, that retailer or affiliate network may set cookies on its own website to attribute a purchase. Those cookies are governed by the third party's policy and we do not control them.
4. Your consent and choices
4.1 What needs consent. The storage technologies described in sections 3.2 to 3.5, and the cookies set by Google during sign-in and by Cloudflare for a security check, are strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for, so we do not ask for consent for them where the law allows. YouTube videos are not necessary, and we load them only with your consent.
4.2 How we ask. On TruckersBS TV, videos are replaced by a placeholder until you agree to load them, either by allowing embedded videos in our cookie preferences tool or by choosing to play a video after reading the notice on the placeholder. This applies wherever you are located. Declining is as easy as agreeing, and if you decline, the rest of the Platform works normally.
4.3 Changing your mind. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the cookie preferences link at the foot of every page. Withdrawal does not affect anything that happened before you withdrew. To remove cookies YouTube has already set, use your browser settings.
4.4 Browser controls. You can clear local storage, cookies and cached files in your browser settings, and you can uninstall the installable version of the Platform at any time. Clearing local storage will sign you out and reset your country selection.
4.5 Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, so there is no sale or sharing for a Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of. The Platform does not currently read Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals.
5. Legal basis and where the law requires consent
5.1 Canada. Under the Personal Information Protection Act (Alberta) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, we obtain your meaningful consent to storage technologies that collect personal information, except where the information is needed to provide the service. Where the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Quebec) applies, we do not activate functions that identify, locate or profile you unless you have chosen to do so.
5.2 European Economic Area and United Kingdom. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (Directive 2002/58/EC) as implemented in EU Member States, and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 as amended, we obtain your consent before storing or accessing information on your device, unless it is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested. We rely on the GDPR or the UK GDPR for any personal data processed through those technologies, as described in the Privacy Policy.
5.3 United States. We provide the notice and choices described in this Policy and in the Privacy Policy.
5.4 Other jurisdictions. We apply the choices described in this Policy for visitors from Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and elsewhere.
6. Retention
6.1 Duration. Each storage technology lasts for the period shown in Schedule 1. Cookies set by third parties last for the periods those parties set.
6.2 Your choice. We keep your choice about embedded videos in your browser so that we can respect it, until you change it or clear your browser storage.
7. Changes to this Policy
7.1 Updates. We will update this Policy and Schedule 1 when we add or remove a storage technology or the law changes, and post the new version with a new effective date. We will not activate Google Analytics, advertising or any other non-essential technology without updating this Policy and asking for your consent first.
8. Contact
8.1 Questions. Contact us at [contact email — to be confirmed] or at the mailing address in section 1.3. Our Privacy Officer is responsible for compliance with this Policy.
