TRUCK DRIVING ISN’T A JOB — IT’S A LIFESTYLE.

I tell people all the time that truck driving isn't a job. It's a lifestyle. If you're always thinking about going home or what you're going to do when you get home, trucking might not be for you. You could be driving across Canada in the middle of winter, and boom! The highway is shut down because of an accident or dangerous road conditions. Now you're stuck somewhere in the middle of nowhere for two or three days. That's the reality people don't understand. Take the Trans-Canada Highway during a winter storm. Some stretches are single-lane highways with no shoulders and very limited places to stop. When the highway closes, you have no choice but to wait it out. Honestly, Alberta is one of the best provinces in Canada for truck drivers when it comes to rest areas. Plenty of them have lighting, washrooms, garbage bins, and space to park and sleep. Saskatchewan has some good ones too. But Ontario? Man, don't get me started. Finding decent truck parking and rest areas can be a real struggle. Sometimes, if you find a spot, there's barely room for two or three trucks. That's trucking. It's not just driving from point A to point B. It's dealing with the unexpected, adapting to the weather, sacrificing time at home, and learning to live with uncertainty. Truck driving isn't just what you do for a living. It's a lifestyle. Anyway, that's my rant for the day.
